A gripping visual novel for mystery game fans

Mirage Noir is a gripping visual novel that blends mystery, suspense, and the emotional depth of found family dynamics. Inspired by games like Ace Attorney and Bustafellows, it follows Yunie, a detective who finds herself stuck in a rut after returning to her hometown with high hopes, only to realize two years later that little has changed in her life. When thrust into an unexpected case, Yunie becomes entangled with a colorful and eccentric team, setting the stage for a thrilling ride filled with murder investigations and dangerous encounters.

Mirage Noir features compelling characters and the relationships that develop throughout the story.

Straightforward narrative and gameplay experience

The plot of Mirage Noir itself is intriguing, introducing players to a mysterious case involving a serial killer, which becomes the catalyst for Yunie’s journey. As you navigate through the investigation, the game cleverly mixes point-and-click investigation mechanics with deduction segments, allowing players to actively participate in solving the case. These mini-games, such as evidence collection and real-time segments, add depth and variety to the gameplay.

Players who prefer a more straightforward narrative experience can toggle off some of these mechanics or opt for a story mode, ensuring the game remains accessible to a wider audience. It also offers replayability with multiple character routes, including four main routes and two additional “truth” routes that unlock after completing them all. This gives players the opportunity to explore different aspects of the story.

However, while the game offers an engaging narrative and compelling characters, its demo leaves much to be desired in terms of pacing. The prologue sets up the plot well but doesn’t provide enough substantial gameplay to fully immerse players. Additionally, the mini-games, while a nice addition, can feel more like distractions for those who prefer focusing solely on the story rather than interactive elements.

More to look forward to

In conclusion, Mirage Noir offers a promising start with its intriguing plot, compelling characters, and unique mix of mystery and emotional depth. The interactive elements, like mini-games and multiple-character routes, provide variety and replayability. However, the demo’s pacing can feel slow, and the mini-games could distract from the narrative for some players. Despite these minor drawbacks, the game shows great potential, leaving players eager to play the game.
